Springs Fail Suddenly — We Respond Immediately
Garage door springs are high-tension components that bear the full weight of your door every time it opens or closes. The average spring is rated for 10,000–20,000 cycles. When a torsion or extension spring snaps, the door becomes dangerously heavy and the opener can burn out trying to compensate. Omega Doors & Windows stocks all major spring sizes — we arrive stocked and ready to replace broken springs on the spot. Every replacement includes a full balance test, cable inspection, and travel-limit verification so your door is safer than before.

Frequently Asked Questions
Get straightforward answers about our process, pricing, and what sets OMEGA apart from the competition.
How do I know if my garage door spring is broken?
The clearest signs are a loud snap or bang from the garage, a door that won't open or opens only a few inches, visible gaps in the coil of a torsion spring, or a door that hangs unevenly. If you press the emergency release and the door is extremely heavy, a spring has likely failed.
Is it safe to use my garage door with a broken spring?
No. Operating a door with a broken spring puts extreme strain on the opener motor (which can burn out), strains the cables (which can snap), and creates a serious crush hazard if the door falls. Disconnect the opener and call us immediately.
How long does a spring replacement take?
Most torsion spring replacements are completed in 60–90 minutes. If cables or drums also need replacement, plan for 90–120 minutes. We arrive stocked so no second trip is needed.
Should I replace both springs at the same time?
Yes, and we strongly recommend it. Springs age together — if one breaks, the other is typically near the end of its rated life. Replacing both at once costs only slightly more than replacing one, and prevents a second service call within weeks.
What is the difference between a torsion spring and an extension spring?
Torsion springs are mounted horizontally above the door on a metal shaft and work by twisting to store energy. Extension springs run along the horizontal tracks on each side and work by stretching. Both have the same job — counterbalancing the door's weight — but torsion springs are more durable, safer, and are standard on most modern doors.
Do you offer a warranty on spring replacements?
Yes. All spring replacements include a 1-year parts and labor warranty. High-cycle spring upgrades come with extended coverage proportional to their rated cycle count.
How much does garage door spring replacement cost in South Florida?
Pricing depends on the door size, spring type, and whether cables or drums also need service. We provide a free, no-obligation estimate before any work begins. Call 866-777-4770 or request a quote online.
